About Department

As per first year diploma engineering concern science & humanities department play an important role. It is mainly supposed a supporting department in polytechnics. The Department of science& humanities provides the basic foundation courses in Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Mechanical Science and English mainly to the first year polytechnic students in all the streams of engineering disciplines being offered at the Siddhivinayak Technical Campus,School of Polytechnic. During the year 2012, several new initiatives have been taken to upgrade the existing academic standard of this department. The student intake has increased from 320 to 360. As a consequence, the total number of sections in this department has increased from five to six. A new section in the department of Mechanical Engineering has been commissioned with student intake strength of 60. At present the total student strength stands at 372. In accordance with the revised MSBTE syllabus, a new fully equipped laboratory in Engineering Physics has been built to cater to the needs of the First year (first and second semester) students of STC in all the streams. Additionally, the faculty members of this department are continuing to contribute quite significantly in the area of research as evidenced from research publications in reputed international journals. An original research papers have been published in national journal by the faculty member of this department in the year 2012. Its subject was “the synthesis and photoluminescence properties of rare earth activated phosphor BaAl2O4:Sm” and it was published in NCLAM
